Ed Balls to stand for Labour Leadership

It has arisen today that Former Education secretary Ed Balls is throwing his hat into the ring to join the battle for the leader of the Labour party. the MP for Morley will join David and Ed Milliband and recently announced Andy Burnham in the race which is scheduled to occur in the next few months. 


Quoted recently, Mr Balls said: "We've got to listen first, hear what the public say, that's what will be the centre-piece of my campaign,". Having a close relationship with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown many have seen him as the natural successor. He has often stated his pride of being a labour MP and has a long running career in British politics. 


With Harriet Harman standing in as leader of the Labour party, Mr Balls said about the race that: "Whoever wins this I will back them 110% because I think the unity of the Labour Party is vital."
